Impact of Coronavirus/COVID-19 on Environment

impact of covid19 coronavirus on environment

Theme:

  • In December 2019, the first coronavirus case was detected in Hubai province of China. From then, it has spread to the entire world and has affected everyone’s lives and also the environment.

Impact of COVID-19 on the environment:

Positive impact:

  • Due to lockdown, vehicular pollution dropped and most of the industries are forced to halt work for a few months. So, as a result, pollution reduced drastically. Fewer carbon emissions improved air quality. People could see clear skies in many areas, which were hitherto couldn’t see it. This made us think about the alternatives to the things that we are doing to our earth in the name of development.
  • People are forced to stay in their homes and animals & birds are roaming freely as if they are reclaiming their space in the earth. And damaged rivers are recovering since industries are halted and hence no industrial waste and also people couldn’t get out to throw waste into the rivers. Even though all this phenomenon is temporary, this is making us ponder over the effect of people on the biodiversity in the world.
  • Due to COVID-19, many people are working from home, which is impacting the environment positively.
  • Consumer demand for non-essential items has reduced temporarily. So, the production of luxury goods was affected negatively. This is a plus for the environment because materialism is one of the biggest reasons for the pollution.

Negative impact:

  • COVID-19 made people wear masks and gloves. Medical professionals are wearing Personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves. Single-use masks, gloves & PPE are contributing to plastic waste. And the increasing number of COVID-19 patients is resulting in tons of medical waste. In most cases, this waste is not being discarded in a proper manner and is becoming a health hazard.
  • Due to declining revenues in the oil & gas industry, some companies are not prioritising to fix gas leaks and hence methane emissions are increasing.
  • Countries may put climate talks aside to uplift economy at a faster pace. Leaders may ignore deadlines of lowering carbon emissions, and may not concentrate on switching to green energy, because restoring the economies is the number priority for many countries right now.

Conclusion:

Even though the environment became better during our fight against COVID-19, this change is not a happy one. It is caused by millions of job losses. But this phase made us realize that nature can bounce back if we are willing to take steps. We need to put more focus on sustainable development.

Talking about impact of lockdown it is quite disastrous. Family having their kids face lot of problem like they are doing mischief that make their parents Blood pressure high. Many of them just taking the example of my neighborhood the one of them have heart attack but doctors are refused to do operation before corona test which may take about 10-15 to complete it. Lot of violence activity are raised when people are forced to stay at home more than 6 months.

Instead of making comparison of global mortality rate and Indian mortality rate due to Corona disease
Give concerntration on how to solve this disease
Don’t ignore Ayurvedic and homeopathic medicine also
Batter to consult all types doctor’s as in India we have verious resources and try to solve problems
    How to cure this pandemic
As ther is no common symptoms of this disease then what type of vassine is created and distribution also
If created also then spread in media so that people know it’s and getting from medicine stores

According to me God is always Good. when Covid 19 pandemic all over the world people have been suffering, even few days before economic machinery has been stopped. Like life got stuck in all over the world . Most of the people gets afraid does not want to go outside because of pandemic situation . In india 130 crores people are therein I e always rush everywhere. But in pandemic situation vehicles movement has been stopped and most of the industry production has been stopped may be many peoples are getting jobless , especially poor people economic condition is very bad but pollution level decreased esp. Kolkata & Delhi and other metro cities pollution level decreased as a result we are getting fresh air . We everybody aware about Global warming but people does not care but in this pandemic situation forced us to stay at home.

Pollution and greenhouse gas emissions have fallen across continents as countries try to contain the spread of the new corona virus. Is this just a fleeting change, or could it lead to longer-lasting falls in emissions?

In a matter of months, the world has been transformed. Thousands of people have already died, and hundreds of thousands more have fallen ill, from a corona virus that was previously unknown before appearing in the city of Wuhan in December 2019. For millions of others who have not caught the disease, their entire way of life has changed by it.

The streets of Wuhan, China, are deserted after authorities implemented a strict lockdown. In Italy, the most extensive travel restrictions are in place since World War Two. In London, the normally bustling pubs, bars and theaters have been closed and people have been told to stay in their homes. Worldwide, flights are being cancelled or turning around in mid-air, as the aviation industry buckles. Those who are able to do so are holed up at home, practicing social distancing and working remotely.

It is all aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19, and hopefully reducing the death toll. But all this change has also led to some unexpected consequences. As industries, transport networks and businesses have closed down, it has brought a sudden drop in carbon emissions. Compared with this time last year, levels of pollution in New York have reduced by nearly 50% because of measures to contain the virus.

I think that there ups and downs to it such as not as much poaching and habitat destruction is happening as much but there is a lot more carbon emissions released into the atmosphere due to everyone staying in

Due to Covid-19, we all have experienced both positive and negative things. Positive side is that, we get to know more about ourselves. We started noticing each and every thing that is happening around us. As a part of trend, children started entering into kitchen for helping their moms.

Negative sides include for those parent who work away from their residence who used to visit thier kids twice a months has reduced. Some didn’t even a get a chance to visit their home town for months due to lack of transport facilities.

Yes there are both types of impact due to covid-19, positive and negative. Apart from the above the positive impact of the disease are:-
people have become more aware of the cleanliness, lots of money wasted in form of social gatherings can be avoided and used in other creative ways, cleanliness of railway platforms, airports and all other public places , people getting enough rest at home, Better bonding between partners.
Negative. Loss of human lives, waste of money on purchase of ppe suits, sanitizer and other commodities, burden to daily wage workers, death of migrants labours, afraidness of people among each other, too much watching of porn movies as per survey, domestic violence somewhere

positive side; we got a chance to look deep in to ourselves( listen, look, taste new dimension of life)
negative; due to lock down, most of African people would lose their lives because of lack of food(most of us are daily workers)

Due to lockdown temperature of area has also decreased, for instance I m from Darjeeling last and previous year we feel that our hills are slowly changing like a plain area where temp is very hot but today we feels like our old Darjeeling has come again with pleasent wind of Kaunchunga, mesmerizing sunrise, the untouched beauty feels like in heaven. Due to lockdown
