Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic

In my opinion we should be prepared for these type of pandemic and a virus teaches us humanity, social values, awareness towards our environment and also teaches us that everyone on earth is equal for nature because virus infect those who was not take safety precautions.

So, in my opinion the COVID – 19 also teaches us the real Humanity. Being a human we should help the others in every challenging situations. Regarding that many people came forward and take a new step which is really helped the society alot. So, for me it will teaches us Humanity about the Humans and their relationship.

I would like to add a point to the above ideas

One lesson which we experienced from the pandemic was to spend the time with our dearest ones. No matter how busy you are in life , spending time with parents, children, siblings gives you a moral boost to our mental health

It exposed just how poorly the CDC communicates with the general population. A simple mailer with graphics explaining how droplets are expelled and then rubbed into the eyes, nose, mouth and open cuts would have explained why masks and washing your hands are important and solved much. Unfortunately, the CDC went back and forth on whether or not wearing a mask was a good idea. In fact, the CDC said that there was no evidence that COVID spread from person to person. So when we look back for lessons to learn, perhaps a good lesson is that the experts don’t know everything and we all need to take personal responsibility for ourselves.

But that would have empowered people to come up with solutions that are just as effective as masks. Less intrusive mechanisms like tissues and handkerchiefs and washing your hands when you got home might have been employed and reduced the psychologically damaging effect of masks on children going to the store.
And maybe it would allow people to realize early on that N95 masks with exhaust values have been useless in fighting the spread of COVID and yet ardent mask supporters still wear them today and chastise those that would rather use a tissue.

It also exposed the political dynamic in our extremely divided world today. Regardless of what any President does in a situation like this his/her political opponents will say its the absolute wrong thing to do and will encourage people to do the opposite. This was true when Trump shut down travel from China early on and was accused of xenophobia and overreaction at the time and today those same people blame Trump for not acting fast enough. Had the President encouraged people to wear masks early on, those same people arguably would have said it is the wrong thing to do and encouraged constituents not to. So what can we learn from this?

It exposed how quickly Governors turn over authority to “experts” and how focusing on the priority of “not letting hospitals become overwhelmed” killed an enormous number of elderly people. Experts told Governors Cuomo and Whitmer to send COVID infected patients back to nursing homes, infecting and killing thousands more. Instead of thinking that through themselves they blindly relied on the “experts” whose number one goal was to stop the hospitals from being overwhelmed with patients, not stopping everyone in nursing homes from dying. So what can we learn from this?

Personal responsibility for your own health and safety is the utmost important lesson to learn from this.
If you are over 65, have COPD, diabetes or are obese, you need to take extreme precautions because you are at high risk of death if you are infected.
Everyone else ought to live their lives as they did before, cough and sneeze into a tissue, a handkerchief or a sleeve at their elbow while in public, wash your hands when you get home, and try not to sneeze on grandma when you get there.

Another thing to learn is that the Tech companies have gotten by rather well without importing H1B workers and US IT worker salaries are going up after a decade of stagnation.

Working from home seems to be working well for a large number of workers and companies. This may reduce our future need to build more office space, this is great for the planet. Fewer cars on the road, less pollution, less carbon in the atmosphere, vehicles will last longer, fewer car crashes, maybe even lower car insurance rates? Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, FaceTime, etc… have been around for a long time but this has forced people to see how valuable these apps are.

According to me this COVID- 19 pandemic all over the world we have taken a lesson lots of in our professional life and personal life. Though pollution level decreased we are getting fresh oxygen. No need consumerism. But our life has got stuck. In professional life – work from home , not able to go to office. In this six months around stuck in the house. So long time we don’t go outside. If we required urgently then we are going , forcibly we have to stay in the house. At least we are learning when we will
not be able to go to office how we will spend our time.
In personal life House keeping peoples are not coming so we have to do all household chores , no friends and relatives are coming so stay alone. Only virtual talk. We are habituating to stay alone. Even we are not going for shopping also. So it has also stopped . No laugh, no happiness. No visiting here and there, but we are living.
