India as the world’s 5th largest economy
It is a proud moment for all Indians that our country has grown to become the 5th largest economy in the world. However, it’s equally crucial to keep a check on whether the poor are benefiting from a growing economy. India’s development in the future will be a result of how successfully it handles the present challenges as well as how well-equipped it is to handle those that will arise in the future.
Effect of Climate Change on Indian Economy
Climate change can make weather patterns less predictable. Farmers’ decisions regarding what crops to plant and when to grow them are impacted by uncertainty about monsoonal changes, which lowers productivity. Work hours are cut in industries like construction that need a lot of outside activity due to climate change. Days with severe heat or floods tend to have reduced labour productivity, which lowers industrial yields, lowers exports and lowers national income.
INS Vikrant
India commissioned its first indigenously designed and built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, on 2nd September 2022. It has strengthened India’s naval power and is seen as a huge win for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
